Red Hot Chili Peppers (lebih dikenal RHCP) adalah kelompok musik rock berbasis di California yang didirikan oleh vokalis Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael Balzary (dikenal sebagai Flea), almarhum gitaris Hillel Slovak, vokalis dan drummer 'Cho' Laws, dan drummer Jack Irons pada 1983. Saat ini anggotanya terdiri dari Kiedis, Balzary, gitaris John Frusciante dan drummer Chad Smith. Mantan-mantan anggota termasuk Dix Denney, Jack Sherman, Cliff Martinez, Dwayne "Blackbird" McKnight, D.H. Peligro, Arik Marshall, Jesse Tobias, dan Dave Navarro.

RHCP telah mengeluarkan sembilan album studio, sembilan #1 modern rock hits, dan telah menjual hampir 50 juta keping album di dunia (37 juta terjual untuk ketiga album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication dan By the Way).

Red Hot Chili Peppers (mulanya Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem) didirikan pada 1983 oleh alumni Fairfax High School Michael "Flea" Balzary (bass), Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Jack Irons (drums), dan Hillel Slovak (guitar) mulanya hanya untuk 1 kali pentas. Setelah menjadi terkenal di Los Angeles, mereka menandatangani kontrak rekaman dengan EMI.

Irons dan Slovak menganggap band tersebut sebagai proyek sampingan, dan meninggalkan RHCP sebelum album perdana mereka untuk menekuni band asal mereka What Is This?. Album Red Hot Chili Peppers diterbitkan pada 1984 dan direkam dengan Jack Sherman pada gitar dan Cliff Martinéz pada drums dan produser Andy Gill dari Gang of Four namun tidak berhasil secara penjualan. Karena pertengkaran dalam tur, Sherman hengkang dan Slovak masuk kembali.
